At the 11:30 am Mass last Sunday, Fr. Sean celebrated the Rite of Acceptance for our new Catechumen SANA KIRKLAND. If you attend future 10am Masses, you will see Sana dismissed after the homily to learn about our faith and beliefs, and how this is integrated into our daily lives as Catholics.
After the Rite, Sana shared "my hopes are not only to become Catholic, but to also develop my faith through being an active member of my parish".
Remember, as a faith family we are connected to Sana and all catechumens on their journey of faith. Sana and all people in RCIA programs need our support, encouragement, and prayers on the journey to full initiation into the Catholic faith. Please say a special prayer both now and as her RCIA preparations continue over the months ahead.
Would you or someone you know want to join Sana? During time in RCIA catechumens hear the great story of Jesus, participate in parish activities, and learn about His transformative message from other parishioners. We invite you to call the Parish Office at 908-647-1075 to be put in touch with a member of the RCIA team. Have a question for yourself of a family member? Make the call! You can also visit the OLM website and view our video on the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA, is available at Our Lady of the Mount.
RCIA is a process by which new members (baptized into another denomination or unbaptized) are brought into the Catholic Church. This occurs through discussion of the Gospels and the catechism.
RCIA also helps those seeking to receive the sacraments of initiation that they didn't receive as children, such as Confirmation. Participants learn about the life of Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church. Using a small-group approach, everyday parishioners lead discussions on the Sunday Mass readings and topics such as the Commandments, prayer, and the meaning of Mass.
